Chaise Franklin Obituary, Cearmease Evans Cause of Death – Two people died Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 in Johnson County. The Johnson County Coroner’s Office identified the two people as 52-year-old Cearmease J. Evans and 17-year-old Chaise Franklin, both of Chicago, Illinois.
The coroner determined their causes of death to be multiple traumatic injuries sustained during the crash. Indiana State Police Sgt. John Perrine said in a post on X around 10 a.m. Sunday that first responders were on the scene of a serious crash on I-65 northbound at the 96-mile marker.

That’s between County Road East 600 North and Worthsville Road near Greenwood. It was still unclear as of Sunday afternoon how many were in the vehicle or if any others were injured.
The cause and manner of death was determined to be multiple traumatic injuries due to the impact of the crash. The Indiana Department of Transportation says the right lane of I-65 northbound was closed for over an hour while crews were on the scene.
Accident southbound lanes of the Kennedy Expressway
It was Wednesday morning when a collision occurred on the southbound lanes of the Kennedy Expressway, resulting in the death of one individual and the injury of three others. A collision involving two automobiles occurred just after 11 o’clock in the morning close to the Kennedy Expressway ramp that leads to the Eisenhower Expressway.
In a statement, officials from the Chicago Fire Department verified that four individuals were transported to hospitals in critical to serious condition. Police have verified that one victim passed away later. According to the office of the Cook County Medical Examiner, the deceased individual was a man named Mohmedtalha M. Tailor, who was twenty years old.
Investigation into the collision
The Illinois State Police have temporarily closed the ramp that leads from the Kennedy to the Eisenhower as they conduct an investigation into the collision. Adams Street, Ida B. Wells Drive, Taylor Street, and Roosevelt Road are all accessible via this ramp, which is located on the Kennedy Highway in the southbound direction. As of 2:45 p.m., the ramp was once again available to traffic.
