Carolina Figueroa Atlanta GA Death – The terrible accident that occurred early Thursday morning on Interstate 20 East in Cobb County resulted in the death of a lady.
The accident brought the highway to a complete halt. The Georgia Department of Transportation reports that a passenger automobile and a freight truck were engaged in the collision that took place at approximately 3:30 in the morning, just before the entrance to Riverside Parkway (exit 46).
The Carolinas At the same time that Stephanie Figueroa-Mora, 29, of Villa Rica, was driving a 2008 Pontiac G6 in the direction of eastbound traffic, a Freightliner Cascadia that was carrying a 53-foot trailer was also moving in the same direction.
At some point, the Pontiac started to rotate in a counterclockwise direction and headed toward the median wall, where it later collided with the wall with the front of the vehicle.
It is not obvious what caused the initial loss of control; the causes are still unknown. As the Pontiac continued to rotate after the initial collision with the wall, it struck the wall a second time and was then rerouted across the eastbound lanes of traffic that were in the other direction.
It was at that moment that the front of the Freightliner collided with the rear of the Pontiac, which resulted in the vehicle rolling over and eventually coming to a halt on the passenger shoulder. The tractor-trailer jackknifed on the shoulder as a result of the impact of the collision that occurred.
Sadly, the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Carolina Stephanie Figueroa-Mora had passed away at the scene of the accident. The Freightliner’s driver and a passenger in the truck suffered no injuries as a result of the collision.
As a result of the accident, all lanes of Interstate 20 East were shut down, and they stayed closed until almost seven in the morning. This resulted in substantial delays for drivers throughout their daily commute.
There is presently an investigation being conducted into the crash, and the authorities have not announced whether or not any charges will be made. If you have any information regarding the event, the authorities are requesting that you call the Cobb police department at the number 770-499-3987.
