What was Kyle Jepson’s cause of death?
After an accident earlier this week, the Peoria County Coroner reports that a Mapleton man most likely passed away instantly.
According to Jamie Harwood, an autopsy has revealed that Kyle Jepson, 31, sustained several blunt force trauma injuries. Just before 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Peoria County Sheriff’s deputies were called to Smithville Road near Largent Creek due to complaints of culvert damage.
However, the owners of the surrounding property found a car on its top that had crashed in the woods not far away and ended up about 40 yards from the road. Jepson was declared dead at the scene just before 12:45 PM after being discovered inside the car with no signs of life.
According to the sheriff’s office, the crash might have happened on Monday at 9:00 p.m. when neighbors heard a tree fall in the area. Investigations into the collision are still ongoing.
