Cameron On March 1, 1993, William John Andrews—the youngest child of William Andrews and Angela Stone and the brother of Dillon and Elora—was born in Scugog, Ontario. Growing up in Whitby, he participated in Cadets, Scouting, and church.
He joined the Canadian Armed Forces shortly before turning 22 and was stationed in Edmonton, Alberta, with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians). He served one tour of duty as part of Operation Reassurance in Latvia, and upon his return, he worked for a while as an Edmonton-based door gunner with the 408 Tactical Helicopter Squadron.
He was assigned to the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps School at CFB Gagetown in New Brunswick on March 31, 2023. Having taught numerous armoured soldier courses, he was a superb instructor who produced a large number of new troops for the Canadian Army.
Along with his brothers and step-siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, Cameron also leaves behind his parents and their wives. His numerous friends, both military and civilian, are also in mourning. Especially, his devoted love Lauren is missing him.
Funeral Services
On Thursday, August 29, 2024, a full military funeral will take place at General Sikorsky Polish Veterans Hall, located at 1551 Stevenson Road North in Oshawa. The service will take place at 11:30 AM, after the visitation, which starts at 9:00 AM. The military part of Groveside Municipal Cemetery, located at 5155 Baldwin Street South, Whitby, will serve as the site of interment. After the burial, there will be a reception at Sikorsky Hall.
