Boca Mall Shooting Investigations: Multiple law enforcement agencies were called to the Town Center Mall in Boca for a shooting report.
According to reports, sounds of fireworks were heard prompting shoppers to think an active shooter was in the area. The Town Center at Boca Raton on 6000 Glades Rd, Boca Raton, FL was placed on a hard lockdown until officers arrived.
On Saturday afternoon, the Boca Raton Police Department responded to the sound of gunshots near 6000 West Glades Road, which is the Boca Raton Town Center Mall.
The scene is significant, but authorities said there was no threat to anyone. It turned out that the sound of gunfire was actually the sound of fireworks going off. Police are still in the neighborhood as of 5:50 p.m. There is no lockdown in force, and the mall continues to operate normally.
The Boca Raton Police Department apparently received the first contact at 5 p.m., and officers arrived on the scene shortly thereafter. There is a police substation in Boca Raton Town Center Mall.
