Benjamin Derousse Ohio Death, Mantua resident died in motorcycle collision on August 16

Benjamin Derousse Ohio Death – A 49-year-old Mantua resident was killed Aug. 16 in a head-on collision with a truck, the Ohio State Highway Patrol has reported.

According to authorities, the crash occurred at 4:43 p.m. along Claridon-Troy Road, just south of the Tavern Road intersection in Burton Township.

The victim, identified as Benjamin Derousse, was traveling southbound and passing two vehicles in the northbound lane when his 2006 Harley-Davidson struck a 2024 Chevy Silverado pickup truck driven by 55-year-old Evelyn Glova of Aurora.

The motorcycle went off the left side of the road and struck a ditch, ejecting Derousse, who was not wearing a helmet, officials confirmed in a news release. Derousse was the sole occupant of the motorcycle and died at the scene from his injuries.

It is unknown if alcohol is a factor in the crash, the release stated. Assistance on the scene was provided by the Geauga County Sheriff’s Office, Burton Fire/EMS, Middlefield Fire/EMS, and Community Care Ambulance.

Authorities are actively investigating the crash, working to determine the exact cause and contributing factors. Further details will be released as the investigation unfolds.
